Genius. Scientist. Billionaire. Visionary.
These are all words which have been used to describe people who are not Adam Azra'el. Eschewing the opportunity to devote his time to high-minded academic pursuits for which he is wholly unqualified, Adam delves instead into a variety of less impressive (but arguably more entertaining) fields.
The remoteness of his childhood home in southeastern Colorado having proved insufficient to protect the world from his antics, Adam relocated to Minneapolis, MN, USA at the age of seventeen. After completing several degrees at McNally Smith College of Music he opted to remain in Minneapolis, a decision which is touted by many scientists as conclusive evidence that it's possible for a person to be so cold that their brain simply gives up. The cold notwithstanding, he maintains a particular affection for his chosen home, and lives there with his wife, violist and orchestra director Karin Moreaux.
MUSIC
As a musician, Adam's resume is a chaotic heap of genres and credits. His artistic journeys have seen him performing a huge variety of material, both original and otherwise, including funk, rock, afropop, jazz, blues, hip hop, and an almost comical assortment of folk musics from around the world. Transcending any attachment to one particular lane, Adam instead opts to simply take up the entire road and see where it leads. The result is a veritable smorgasbord of musical pursuits, both under his own name and as a part of various collaborations and projects. His performances can also be heard on numerous uncredited recordings by artists in any number of genres, and his compositions and arrangements have been featured as titles and beds in a number of podcasts.
In addition to writing and performing, Adam works as an arranger, producer, and session musician who delights in taking on interesting projects from new and old clients alike and adding that extra something to them to help them stand out. This has recently included work in latin pop, rock, hip hop, and even Hawaiian music, and is a source of constant interest and joy for him. Shameless plug: you can hire him too!
PODCAST + WRITING
Adam is the proud producer and co-host of The Lesser Stories, a comedy history podcast which highlights some of history's least important (but undeniably most interesting) stories. The podcast began its life as a project called Really Useful Knowledge, which was hilarious to anyone who worked on it and absolutely meaningless to everyone else. With the advent of The Lesser Stories and the addition of co-host Anthony Staten (also of St. George's Folly), the podcast expanded to include a collection of historical articles, written by Adam with all of his stereotypical sarcastic flair on full display.
